Something exciting is going on at Monticello. FOX 12 Good Day Oregon Home & Garden crew visited today to see what all the buzz is about at Monticello Antique Marketplace! Pictured from left to right is FOX 12 camera man, Gregg Richmond, Monticello Owner, Kelli Riedman, and FOX 12 Good Day Oregon Home & Garden, Dave Schmitke.
They went through the mall filming and chatting with Kelli about everything we have to offer. They were quite impressed . Watch us on live T.V. Saturday, July 26th between 8:30 & 9:00a.m. on FOX 12 Good Day Oregon Home & Garden!

Come see what's new in our Consignment Showroom. This beautiful French style bedroom set made by Berkey & Gay Company is just a sample of what you'll find in our showroom. We offer many styles of furniture from antique to modern, traditional, contemporary, arts & crafts, and mid-century.
Yahoo! Look what we have for those summer days that are finally here. It's time to get those decks and patios fixed up for the 4th of July BBQ!
Sunday, June 8
We now have hanging flower baskets for sale! These are big and beautiful Begonia's, Fuchsia's and Petunia's to choose from. They're going fast for only $28 each. We also have new patio sets to choose from. Come see what's new for Summer.
According to one of the appraisers, 99% of the thousands of items appraised before the show are junk! By the time the show airs, we only see a small fraction of what comes in, based on most valuable, the strangest, and what people may think are worth thousands end up being fakes to their dismay.
For most of the participants, this is where dreams die. They've been told their whole life that this is a precious family heirloom, then they find out it's not. It's only worth sentimental value...bummer. If nothing else, this process teaches a lesson about the peril of allowing someone else to determine the value of something you love.
We have had people come to our own "Roadshow" that we host here at Monticello every other month with appraiser Terra Goodman, ISA, and leave disappointed because what they thought was a real antique ended up being a fake or reproduction. Sorry people, their are a lot of fakes and reproductions out there. Before you buy and spend a lot of money, do your homework, do your research, asked questions. Just because it looks like the picture in the book, doesn't mean it's just as valuable.
Do you ever wonder how funiture is selected to be brought in for the show? A photograph is sent in to the local station. If it looks interesting, the station transports it to the show.
Appraisers are not allowed to buy items directly from the people who come to the show. The Roadshow has strict rules about this. The appraisers that appear on the show pay their own expenses for travel, but it's good advertisement for them and their business. Most are professional dealers themselves.
I was lucky enough to get tickets to the Portland Antiques Roadshow back in 1998 and found out my little homemade dough box was worth $150. I paid $3 for it at a yard sale! It ended up being featured in Cottage Living Magazine.
Happy Hunting Everyone! ..Joyce

I think mother nature missed Spring and jumped right in to Summer! It's 90+ degrees today and two days ago, it was only in the 50's. What happened! Anyway, I thought this lavendar wisteria said it all.
We held our monthly dealer night last night and a lot of cool stuff came in. Also this week, we got a lot of new arrivals in the Salvage Garden so come see what's new at Monticello this weekend!
Friday, May 9
The forecast is calling for clouds and rain on Mother's Day but at Monticello it's going to be sunny and warm! The birds are singing in the garden room and the Home & Garden Show is going on through Mother's Day. Bring mom in for lunch and then stroll down memory lane where she'll find past and present treasures for the home and garden. We have fresh plants and flower arrangements for mom too. Happy Mother's Day!
Sunday, May 4
Be good to your mother and remember all that she has taught you through life, all the lessons you have learned, and all the love and support she has given you. My mother lost her battle with cancer at the early age of 47. I missed out on so many special moments and being able to share life with her. Do not take her for granted and appreciate every moment with her. Make Mother's Day her special day.
Saturday, May 3
At Monticello Antique Marketplace, it's hard to leave empty handed! See you soon!

If you can't make it tomorrow, just remember the Garden Show goes through Mother's Day. Early bird gets the worm! We open at 10:00 a.m.
